Backend Engineer • Senior

Who you are

You have a strong background in backend engineering with a focus on data analytics — your experience includes building and optimizing data models using SQL and Python. You understand the importance of data quality and have applied advanced testing strategies to ensure data integrity in reporting systems.

You are skilled in using cloud-based infrastructure, particularly AWS and GCP, and have experience with tools like Airflow and dbt for data orchestration and transformation. Your familiarity with OLAP datastores and various database technologies allows you to efficiently manage and serve data to stakeholders.

You excel in collaboration and communication, working closely with cross-functional teams to define business logic and data expectations. You are proactive in surfacing insights and driving initiatives that enhance data usage across the organization.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for applying best practices in data modeling and transformation to support customer reporting interfaces. You will build new data models and optimize existing ones, ensuring they are aligned with business logic and ready for analysis. Your work will involve transforming raw data into actionable business insights, which will require close collaboration with stakeholders.

You will implement validation checks and automated testing procedures to maintain data quality throughout the data transformation and API layers. Additionally, you will apply software engineering principles such as version control and continuous integration to the analytics codebase, ensuring a robust and maintainable system.

As a contractor, you will lead initiatives related to problem definition, scoping, design, and planning, contributing to the overall success of the data team. Your deep domain knowledge of data systems will be crucial in driving improvements and innovations in data handling and reporting.
