OpenAI is hiring an Engineering Manager for the Integrity team to lead a group of Machine Learning Engineers in architecting advanced system protections. You'll work with cutting-edge models to ensure platform integrity in San Francisco.

Job Description

Who you are

You bring extensive hands-on experience managing machine learning teams, ideally in web safety contexts. Your background includes architecting and building system protections, and you have a strong understanding of model training and deployment strategies. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with research, safety, product, and policy teams to leverage existing tools and drive advancements in technology.

You have a proven track record of empowering teams with clear direction and autonomy, supporting their professional growth through mentorship and career progression. Your ability to establish robust evaluation frameworks and metrics allows you to measure progress effectively and identify areas for improvement. You are passionate about safeguarding platforms and ensuring responsible usage of technology.

What you'll do

In this role, you will architect and build next-generation system protections, directly contributing through hands-on design, model training, and deployment strategies. You will lead and manage a small, senior team of Machine Learning Engineers, empowering them with clear direction and autonomy. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with Research, Safety, Product, and Policy teams to leverage existing tools and drive cutting-edge advancements.

You will utilize state-of-the-art models to detect and prevent problematic content effectively, ensuring the integrity of OpenAI's platform. Establishing robust evaluation frameworks and metrics will be part of your responsibilities, allowing you to measure progress and identify areas for improvement. You will support your team's professional growth and maintain high performance through mentorship and clear career progression.
