Job Description
Who you are
You have 9+ years of experience developing and deploying machine learning models end-to-end — from research and prototyping to implementation in production systems. Your strong software engineering skills in Python allow you to contribute effectively to production codebases, ensuring high-quality outputs. You possess hands-on experience with deep learning architectures, including ConvNets and Transformers, which enables you to tackle a variety of challenging ML problems. Your advanced degree (MS or PhD) in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field provides you with a solid foundation in statistics and experimental design. You are an excellent communicator and collaborator, comfortable working with cross-functional stakeholders and able to convey technical ideas clearly. You have a genuine interest in real estate, engaging deeply with housing data, even if you lack prior experience in the field.
Desirable
Familiarity with Pyspark and distributed data processing is a plus, as is a background in search, recommendation systems, or personalization. Experience working with large language models (LLMs) or vision-language models (VLMs) would also be beneficial, enhancing your ability to contribute to Opendoor's innovative projects.
What you'll do
In this role, you will push the boundaries of applied machine learning and AI at Opendoor, significantly impacting the company's valuation systems. You will work across a range of challenging ML problems, from multi-modal modeling to operational optimization, helping to rethink how structured and unstructured data can be utilized to make better decisions for customers. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing machine learning models that enhance pricing accuracy and transparency. You will collaborate with various teams to ensure that the models you develop are effectively integrated into the company's systems, driving improvements in decision-making processes. You will also mentor junior team members, sharing your expertise and fostering a culture of learning and innovation within the team.
