You have a strong background in data engineering with experience in building and maintaining data pipelines — you've worked with complex financial datasets and understand the importance of data quality and accessibility for trading systems. Your proficiency in SQL and Python allows you to model and normalize data effectively, ensuring it meets the needs of both research and production environments.
You are a collaborative team player who enjoys working closely with quantitative researchers and engineers — you understand the evolving data needs of a trading team and are committed to delivering reliable, scalable solutions. Your attention to detail ensures that the datasets you manage are clean, structured, and ready for analysis.
You have a proactive approach to problem-solving and are comfortable taking ownership of data reliability and the associated APIs — you thrive in environments where you can contribute to the full data lifecycle, from discovery to validation. Your experience in monitoring and validating data quality helps you maintain high standards in your work.
Desirable
Experience with financial datasets and trading systems is a plus — familiarity with market drivers and risk assessment will enhance your contributions to the team. Knowledge of additional programming languages or data tools can also be beneficial in this role.
What you'll do
As a Data Engineer at Optiver, you will create novel analytics and frameworks to research and analyze trade-offs between different sources of returns, flow, and risk — your work will directly support the Credit Trading team in making informed decisions. You will collaborate with quantitative researchers to quantify market drivers, ensuring that the data you provide is actionable and relevant.
You will model and normalize complex financial datasets, ensuring they are clean and structured for both research and production trading systems — your expertise will help maintain the reliability of these datasets and the associated data APIs. You will also be responsible for ensuring data quality and consistency through validation and monitoring practices, employing robust engineering techniques to uphold high standards.
Your role will involve direct collaboration with alpha researchers and pricing researchers to understand their evolving data needs — you will deliver scalable solutions that meet these requirements. You will play a key role in building the data solutions that fuel both real-time trading and long-term research, contributing to the overall success of the trading strategies at Optiver.
What we offer
Optiver provides a competitive salary range of $150,000 to $225,000 USD, along with a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
