You have 5+ years of experience in backend engineering, with a strong focus on building production systems at scale. You’ve successfully led teams and managed complex technical projects, ensuring that services are reliable and efficient. Your technical background includes familiarity with distributed systems and low-latency stream processing, which are crucial for the role. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and thrive in fast-paced environments where you can take ownership of your work. You have a proven track record of collaborating cross-functionally with product and infrastructure teams to drive technical strategy and execution.

You possess deep expertise in Java and have experience with backend languages that enable you to guide your team effectively. Your knowledge extends to technologies like Kafka, ClickHouse, Postgres, and Redis, which are integral to the core systems you will oversee. You understand the importance of data storage at scale and are adept at managing teams that work on mission-critical services. You are passionate about mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within your team.

Desirable

Experience with Flink or similar stream processing technologies is a plus, as it aligns with the core responsibilities of the role. What you'll do

As the Engineering Manager at Oscilar, you will lead a high-caliber team of backend engineers dedicated to building and maintaining the core infrastructure of our AI Risk Decisioning™ Platform. You will oversee the development of critical services, including our Kafka ingestion platform and ClickHouse data layer, ensuring they meet the demands of our clients in the banking and fintech sectors. Your role will involve defining technical strategies and driving execution while collaborating closely with cross-functional leads in product, infrastructure, and AI.

You will be responsible for managing the engineering team, conducting regular 1:1s, and supporting their professional development. You will encourage a culture of ownership and accountability, empowering your team to make decisions that align with our mission. Your leadership will be pivotal in shaping the engineering culture at Oscilar, fostering an environment where innovation thrives and engineers feel supported.

You will also coordinate with teams across North America, ensuring that communication and collaboration are seamless. Your ability to navigate complex technical challenges and lead your team through them will be essential for success in this role.
