Overview
Pika is hiring a Backend Engineer to shape the core infrastructure powering their creative tools. You'll work with technologies like Node.js, Python, and AWS to build robust backend systems. This position requires broad engineering experience and proficiency in modern backend technologies.
Job Description
Who you are
You have broad engineering experience, with a strong portfolio of production-ready backend and/or full-stack projects. Proficiency in modern backend technologies such as Node.js, Python, and Go is essential, along with frameworks like Express and FastAPI. You possess a strong understanding of database design and operations, including SQL and NoSQL, and are skilled in performance tuning and data modeling. Your experience extends to APIs, cloud infrastructure such as AWS and GCP, and CI/CD workflows. You are comfortable building internal tools or automation pipelines that enhance product and team productivity. You thrive in a collaborative environment and have clear communication skills that facilitate teamwork.
What you'll do
In this role, you will architect and build scalable backend services that power Pika’s web and mobile products. You will own backend logic end-to-end, from database modeling to API design and infrastructure decisions. Supporting internal tooling and operational automation will be part of your responsibilities, aimed at improving team workflows. You will work closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and designers to create features that users love. Debugging, optimizing, and future-proofing our systems for scale and reliability will be key aspects of your daily tasks. Staying up to date with backend technologies and proposing new approaches will also be part of your contributions to the team.
