Job Description
Who you are
You are an experienced backend engineer with over 5 years of experience in building production systems at scale. You have a strong background in Java and Spring Boot, having delivered high-performance APIs that handle real-time data for millions of users. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions.
Your expertise in RESTful API design allows you to create well-structured and maintainable code that meets project requirements. You are familiar with integrating third-party data providers and have experience managing deployments across various environments, ensuring that systems are performant and resilient.
You have a solid understanding of database management, particularly with MySQL, and are comfortable using Git for version control. Your experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes enables you to streamline development processes and enhance system reliability.
You are also knowledgeable about AWS services, including S3, Lambda, and EC2, which you leverage to build scalable cloud-based solutions. Your familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation ensures that you can contribute to efficient development workflows.
Desirable
While not required, familiarity with Python for scripting and basic frontend technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript would be beneficial for this role. You are eager to learn and adapt to new technologies as needed.
What you'll do
In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing scalable backend systems that power digital experiences for sports fans. You will work on delivering robust APIs that integrate with various data sources, ensuring that the systems you build are capable of handling real-time sports data and live commentary.
You will participate in sprint planning and delivery-focused meetings, collaborating with your team to identify and manage project-level technical dependencies. Your contributions will include writing and maintaining clear technical documentation, as well as participating in code reviews to uphold development best practices.
You will be expected to deliver well-structured, maintainable, and testable code aligned with project requirements. Your role will also involve building and maintaining RESTful APIs to support both web and mobile applications, ensuring that they are performant, secure, and resilient.
As a contractor, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects that impact millions of sports fans globally. Your hands-on experience and technical expertise will be crucial in driving the success of the backend services you develop.
What we offer
Pulselive offers a competitive day rate of £400 - 500 per day for this contract position, which is outside of IR35. You will have the flexibility to work on a project basis, with an initial duration of 3 months and the possibility of extension based on project needs.
