Overview

Reddit is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for their Ads API team to architect and drive the development of critical advertising infrastructure. You'll work on external-facing APIs and internal platforms to enhance Reddit's advertising ecosystem. This role requires strong technical leadership and the ability to navigate ambiguity.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in software engineering with a focus on API development and system architecture — your experience includes designing and implementing scalable solutions that serve both internal and external users. You thrive in environments where you can take ownership of projects and drive them to completion, demonstrating your ability to navigate ambiguity and make decisive technical decisions. You possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

You are passionate about building tools and infrastructure that empower other teams and external partners — your understanding of the advertising ecosystem enables you to create solutions that enhance user experience and drive business growth. You have a track record of mentoring junior engineers and fostering a collaborative team environment, ensuring that knowledge is shared and best practices are followed.

What you'll do

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Ads API team, you will be the primary technical driver and architect for the platform — your role involves designing and implementing robust APIs that facilitate campaign management and reporting for third-party partners. You will work closely with product teams to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements, ensuring that the Ads API platform meets the demands of a growing user base. You will also be responsible for maintaining high standards of code quality and performance, conducting code reviews, and providing guidance to team members.

You will collaborate with other engineering teams to integrate their functionalities into the Ads API platform, creating a seamless experience for both internal users and external partners. Your ability to analyze and optimize system performance will be crucial in ensuring that the platform can handle increasing loads and provide reliable service. You will also play a key role in defining the technical roadmap for the Ads API team, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement.

What we offer

Reddit offers a dynamic work environment where you can make a significant impact on the company's advertising ecosystem. You will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of engineers and contribute to projects that are critical to Reddit's growth. We provide competitive compensation and benefits, along with a commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. Join us in shaping the future of online communities and advertising.
