You have a strong background in materials engineering, particularly in the context of aerospace applications. With several years of experience, you understand the complexities of materials and processes that are critical to the success of rocket development. You are adept at characterizing and inspecting materials, ensuring they meet rigorous standards for performance and safety. Your problem-solving skills are top-notch, and you thrive in environments where innovation is key. You are comfortable collaborating across teams, bringing your expertise to the table while also learning from others. You are passionate about contributing to projects that push the boundaries of technology and exploration.
Desirable
Experience with additive manufacturing and advanced composites is a plus. Familiarity with non-destructive evaluation (NDE) techniques will enhance your ability to contribute effectively to the team. A background in turbomachinery or propulsion systems will be beneficial as you work on the Terran R vehicle. You are a proactive communicator, able to articulate complex ideas clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What you'll do
As a Senior Materials & Processes Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the development of the Terran R rocket. You will be responsible for developing and characterizing materials that are essential for the vehicle's performance. This includes working on welding techniques and ensuring that materials can withstand the extreme conditions of space travel. You will collaborate closely with propulsion, manufacturing, and other engineering teams to ensure that the materials used are not only effective but also innovative. Your work will involve rigorous testing and inspection processes to validate the materials and processes used in the rocket's construction. You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of materials and processes, ensuring that they meet the evolving demands of aerospace technology.
