You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong background in building scalable systems. You are proficient in Java and Python, and you understand the intricacies of developing complex software solutions that can automate tasks across various domains. Your experience includes working with cloud platforms like AWS, enabling you to design and implement robust applications that can handle significant loads and provide actionable insights.

You are a problem solver at heart, capable of tackling hard systems challenges and defining core primitives that will be foundational for future development. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the software you build meets the needs of various stakeholders. Your communication skills allow you to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Desirable

Experience with IoT systems or similar technologies is a plus, as is familiarity with agile development methodologies. You are comfortable with zero-to-one work, where you can take initiative and drive projects from conception to deployment. A passion for improving operational efficiency and sustainability in physical operations aligns well with Samsara's mission.

What you'll do

In this role, you will help build the core platform that enables Samsara to automate complex tasks through intelligent agents. You will work on foundational systems that will scale from a small set of specialized agents to dozens in production over the next year. Your responsibilities will include defining core primitives, solving challenging systems problems, and building service components that other teams will rely on.

You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to ensure that the platform meets the needs of various applications, including Video-Based Safety and Vehicle Telematics. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of operations across industries such as agriculture, construction, and transportation.
