Who you are
You have a strong background in backend engineering, with experience in building scalable production systems that cater to diverse user needs. Your expertise in Java and Python allows you to develop robust backend solutions that enhance user experiences, particularly in educational contexts. You understand the importance of language support and have dealt with tricky language formatting issues, including encoding and bi-directional text handling. Your experience with cloud platforms like AWS equips you to leverage services such as S3 and Lambda effectively. You possess a strong product sense and empathy for users, especially teachers and students in bilingual or Arabic-medium classrooms. You thrive in collaborative environments and are eager to contribute to a team focused on international growth.
Desirable
Experience with event-driven architectures and queueing systems is a plus, as it aligns with the challenges you will tackle in this role. Familiarity with educational technology and a passion for improving learning experiences for students will set you apart.
What you'll do
As a Backend Engineer at Seesaw, you will play a crucial role in preparing the platform for international expansion, particularly across the MENA region. You will work on high-impact backend systems that enhance Arabic support across AI features and improve text and assessment pipelines.
