Overview
Sesame is hiring a Machine Learning Engineer to design and build evaluation pipelines for speech and multimodal models. You'll work with PyTorch and collaborate with research and infrastructure teams to deploy state-of-the-art voice models. This position requires expertise in machine learning and software engineering.
Job Description
Who you are
You are an experienced Machine Learning Engineer with a strong background in software engineering and a passion for machine learning. You have expert-level skills in PyTorch and are comfortable writing production code across the stack. Your hands-on experience includes training or fine-tuning large language models and other large-scale models using various techniques. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are eager to take ideas from whiteboard to production quickly, ensuring quality and performance.
You possess a deep understanding of evaluation methodologies and are skilled at designing, building, and automating evaluation pipelines that keep models honest in production. You are adept at creating tooling for safe, versioned, and privacy-aware dataset curation and discovery. Your ability to monitor and evaluate model performance allows you to surface quality regressions proactively, ensuring a seamless user experience.
What you'll do
In this role, you will own the evaluation pipelines, designing and building both offline and live evaluations for Sesame's speech and multimodal models. You will collaborate closely with research and infrastructure teams to prototype, train, and deploy state-of-the-art voice models that enhance the real-time companion experience. Your responsibilities will include scaling training and inference for LLM-class workloads, focusing on optimizing latency, throughput, and cost.
You will also wire up monitoring and live evaluations to catch quality regressions before they impact users or product managers. Your work will be crucial in ensuring that the models perform reliably and meet the high standards expected by Sesame's users. You will be expected to move at startup speed, taking ideas from concept to production in days rather than quarters, while leaving a clean trail of tests and dashboards behind.
What we offer
Sesame provides a dynamic work environment where innovation is encouraged. As a full-time employee, you will enjoy comprehensive benefits, including 401k matching, 100% employer-paid health, vision, and dental benefits, as well as unlimited PTO and sick time. We believe in supporting our employees' well-being and work-life balance, offering flexible spending account matching for medical expenses. Join us in shaping a future where computers truly come alive, and be part of a team that values collaboration and creativity.
