Who you are

As a Cloud Software Engineer Intern, you are eager to learn and gain hands-on experience in software development. You have a foundational understanding of programming languages, particularly TypeScript and Python, and are excited about working on full-stack applications. You thrive in collaborative environments, where you can engage with engineers, designers, and product managers to deliver impactful features. Your interest in cloud technologies and autonomous systems drives your passion for contributing to innovative solutions that enhance public safety.

You are familiar with frontend frameworks, particularly React, and understand how to build user interfaces that are both functional and user-friendly. You are open to learning backend technologies, including Go, and are keen to understand how different components of a system interact. You appreciate the importance of clean code and are motivated to improve your coding skills through practical experience.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms or services is a plus, as is any exposure to working on projects that involve real-time data processing or user interaction. If you have participated in hackathons or coding competitions, this experience will be beneficial in showcasing your problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

What you'll do

In this role, you will contribute to the Drone as First Responder (DFR) team, helping to design and implement features that support first responders in coordinating incidents. You will work on both the frontend and backend of applications, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the software development lifecycle. Your tasks will include developing operator-facing features that enhance the user experience and facilitate effective incident management.

You will collaborate closely with experienced engineers to learn best practices in software development, including version control, testing, and deployment processes. You will also participate in code reviews, where you can receive constructive feedback to help you grow as a developer. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of public safety operations, making your work meaningful and rewarding.
