Smarkets is hiring an Accounts Assistant to join their Finance team. You'll be responsible for preparing invoices, reconciling bank statements, and assisting in the financial audit process. This role requires proficiency in Excel and familiarity with Xero accounting software.
Job Description
Who you are
You are a detail-oriented Accounts Assistant with a strong proficiency in Excel and excellent organizational skills. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a methodical approach to your work, ensuring accuracy in all tasks. With at least 1 year of public practice experience, you are comfortable multitasking and meeting deadlines. Your good communication skills enable you to work effectively within a small team and across different departments. While experience with Xero accounting software is desirable, your willingness to learn and adapt in an agile, start-up-like environment is what sets you apart. A degree in Accounting or a related business field is preferred but not essential.
What you'll do
In this role, you will prepare and enter accounts payable invoices into the accounting system, ensuring that all entries are accurate and timely. You will regularly review and reconcile bank statements to maintain financial integrity. Additionally, you will assist in the financial audit process by gathering required documentation and providing support during audits. Your attention to detail will be crucial in identifying discrepancies and communicating insights from data to your team. You will also collaborate with auditors and other finance team members to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.
