SpaceX is hiring a Development Test Engineer for the Starship Structural Test team to design and execute structural tests. You'll work with mechanical systems and data acquisition technologies. This position requires a multidisciplinary engineering background.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in engineering, particularly in mechanical systems and structural testing. Your experience includes designing and executing static and dynamic tests, and you are comfortable working with vehicle engineers to develop test configurations and boundary conditions. You possess skills in troubleshooting fluid systems, including those involving rocket propellants and hydraulic load control systems. Your familiarity with data acquisition systems, particularly NI-based systems, allows you to effectively manage instrumentation such as strain gauges and pressure transducers. You are detail-oriented and capable of developing and maintaining test procedures and scripts that ensure successful test execution.

Desirable

Experience with cryogenic propellants and high-pressure systems is a plus. Familiarity with software development for test automation can enhance your contributions to the team.

What you'll do

As a Development Test Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design and execution of large system-level structural tests for the Starship program. You will collaborate closely with vehicle engineers to develop comprehensive test plans that include configurations for test articles and stands. Your role will involve designing and modifying mechanical systems, from small components to large structural weldments, ensuring they meet rigorous testing standards. You will also troubleshoot and build fluid systems, managing both low and high-pressure gaseous working fluids. Additionally, you will design and implement data acquisition and control systems, ensuring accurate data collection during tests. Your contributions will be critical in maintaining the integrity and performance of the Starship structures.
