Overview
SpaceX is hiring a Senior Mission Integration Engineer to support national security efforts through the Starshield program. You'll work on system integration and operational concepts for space missions. This role requires a strong technical background in space vehicle design and integration.
Job Description
Who you are
You have a strong technical background in space vehicle design, integration, and verification across the program lifecycle — you enjoy solving complex problems and have experience leading system trades of various launch vehicles and spacecraft. Your ability to analyze a wide variety of solutions to meet mission needs is essential, and you thrive in environments that require creativity and innovation in engineering approaches. You are comfortable serving as a core point of contact for customers, guiding them from early capabilities studies through successful launch and on-orbit activation.
You possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to effectively negotiate initial requirements and support new business proposals through to final handoff and validation. Your experience in mission management and operational concepts will be invaluable as you work closely with various stakeholders to ensure mission success. You are detail-oriented and have a strong understanding of the technical and programmatic objectives that drive successful space missions.
Desirable
Experience with government contracts or national security projects would be a plus, as would familiarity with SpaceX’s technologies and capabilities. A background in systems engineering or project management can enhance your ability to contribute to the team.
What you'll do
As a Senior Mission Integration Engineer, you will lead the integration of various systems and technologies to support the Starshield program. You will analyze mission requirements and develop operational concepts that align with customer needs. Your role will involve significant collaboration with engineering teams to ensure that all aspects of the mission are well-integrated and meet the necessary specifications.
You will be responsible for conducting system trades and evaluations, providing insights that will guide decision-making processes. Your ability to think critically and creatively will be essential as you explore different engineering approaches to solve complex challenges. You will also support the development of interfaces at the mission, segment, system, and sub-system levels, ensuring that all components work seamlessly together.
In addition to technical responsibilities, you will engage with customers throughout the mission lifecycle, providing updates and addressing any concerns that may arise. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a collaborative environment where innovative solutions can flourish. You will also play a key role in mentoring junior engineers and sharing your expertise with the team.
