Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Propulsion Technician for the Raptor Chamber and Nozzle Assembly team. You'll be responsible for the assembly and testing of rocket hardware, utilizing skills in welding and mechanical engineering. This role requires hands-on experience and a solid mechanical knowledge.

Who you are

You possess a solid mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience, with a willingness and ability to learn. You are comfortable working autonomously on defined schedules while prioritizing safety and quality in all tasks. Your experience includes working with various welding techniques and operating machinery relevant to rocket hardware assembly. You have the ability to troubleshoot anomalies effectively and adapt to different systems as needed.

Desirable

Experience with electron beam welding, laser welding, TIG welding, or brazing is a plus. Familiarity with operating forklifts, cranes, and heavy machinery will enhance your ability to perform in this role. You are detail-oriented and can read and interpret technical drawings, ensuring that all work is performed according to specifications and test instructions.

What you'll do

As a Propulsion Technician, you will clean, prepare, and assemble various main combustion chamber assemblies and sub-assembly pieces. You will perform work according to established procedures and specifications, ensuring that all tasks meet the required safety and quality standards. Operating machinery such as DAVI roll formers and automated TIG welding machines will be part of your daily responsibilities. You will also run automated machines for surface preparation or thermal barrier coating applications, contributing to the overall efficiency of the assembly process.

Your role will require you to use precision calibrated tools, including torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers, to ensure that all components meet the necessary specifications. You will be expected to read and interpret technical drawings and follow detailed work instructions to complete your tasks accurately. Additionally, you will perform other related duties as assigned to maintain an efficient and effective work environment.
