SpaceX is seeking a Reliability Engineer for Facilities Infrastructure to ensure the reliability and maintainability of critical equipment. You'll develop maintenance strategies and perform root cause analysis to minimize downtime. This role requires strong technical leadership and collaboration skills.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a background in reliability engineering with experience in high-volume manufacturing environments — you've developed and optimized maintenance strategies that enhance equipment reliability and availability. Your expertise includes conducting root cause analysis and implementing proactive reliability initiatives to minimize downtime and maximize asset efficiencies.

You possess strong technical leadership skills — you can diagnose repetitive failures and integrate predictive monitoring into existing systems. Your collaborative nature allows you to work effectively with production, maintenance, tooling, automation, and engineering teams to incorporate reliability into new equipment designs and overhauls.

You are detail-oriented and data-driven — you understand the importance of historical data in optimizing inventory levels and selecting critical spare parts. Your ability to analyze complex systems and identify areas for improvement is a key asset in your role.

You are committed to supporting SpaceX's mission of enabling human life on Mars — your work directly contributes to the success of launch operations at Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg.

Desirable

Experience with predictive maintenance technologies or reliability programs in aerospace or similar industries would be a plus. Familiarity with equipment used in launch operations or high-stakes environments is also advantageous.

What you'll do

As a Reliability Engineer at SpaceX, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, availability, and maintainability of critical equipment and facilities. You will own the development and optimization of maintenance strategies, focusing on preventive maintenance tasks performed by technicians. Your responsibilities will include creating asset component lists and selecting critical spare parts based on historical data.

You will perform root cause analysis for failures, identifying underlying issues and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence. Your proactive reliability initiatives will aim to minimize downtime and maximize asset efficiencies, directly impacting the success of launch operations.

Collaboration is key in this role — you will work closely with production, maintenance, tooling, automation, and engineering teams to integrate reliability into new equipment designs and overhauls. Your technical leadership will guide cross-functional improvements, ensuring that reliability considerations are embedded in all aspects of equipment management.

You will also be responsible for developing and refining reliability programs that maximize equipment availability. This includes analyzing performance data, identifying trends, and making recommendations for improvements. Your insights will help shape the future of SpaceX's facilities infrastructure.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of space exploration. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will work in a dynamic environment where your contributions directly impact the success of our ambitious goals.

Join us in our mission to enable human life on Mars — your work as a Reliability Engineer will be crucial in ensuring that our facilities and equipment operate at peak performance, supporting our vision for the future of space exploration.
