SpaceX is hiring a Software Engineer for their Flight Software team to develop highly reliable autonomous software systems. You'll work with C++ to design secure systems for national security efforts. This position requires a collaborative mindset and problem-solving skills.

Job Description

Who you are

You are a motivated and collaborative engineer with a strong background in software development, particularly in C++. You enjoy solving complex problems and are eager to contribute to an inspiring mission of enabling human life on Mars. You thrive in a team environment and are open to bringing fresh ideas from various fields to enhance the development of flight software systems.

You have experience in developing software systems that are secure, reliable, and autonomous. Your understanding of the software life cycle, including development, testing, and operational support, allows you to take ownership of the projects you work on. You are adaptable and willing to learn, as aerospace experience is not a requirement for this role.

Desirable

Experience with autonomous systems or secure communications would be a plus, as would familiarity with mesh networks or in-space technologies. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and are excited about the opportunity to make a significant impact in the aerospace industry.

What you'll do

As a Software Engineer on the Flight Software team, you will be responsible for developing highly reliable autonomous software systems that leverage SpaceX’s Starlink technology for national security efforts. You will design and implement secure systems that guarantee access to space, focusing on earth observation, communications, and hosted payloads. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that the software meets the rigorous standards required for government use.

You will engage in the full software development life cycle, from initial design through to testing and operational support. This includes writing clean, maintainable code and participating in code reviews to ensure high-quality software delivery. You will also be involved in troubleshooting and resolving issues that arise during the development process, ensuring that the systems you build are robust and reliable.

Your contributions will directly support the mission of SpaceX to expand human presence in space. You will work closely with other engineers and stakeholders to develop tools that enhance efficiency and effectiveness in software development. As part of a growing team, you will have the opportunity to influence the direction of the software systems being built and help shape the future of aerospace technology.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and exploring new frontiers. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, along with the chance to work on groundbreaking projects that have a real impact on the future of humanity. You will have access to a collaborative work environment where innovation is encouraged, and your ideas can lead to significant advancements in aerospace technology. Join us in our mission to make life multi-planetary.
