You have a strong background in hardware prototyping and fabrication techniques — your experience includes operating CNC milling centers, routers, and 3D printers to create high-quality prototypes. You are skilled at reading and interpreting technical drawings, allowing you to fabricate metal and plastic parts with precision and creativity. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with hardware, electrical, and firmware teams to generate innovative ideas and iterate on prototypes. Your problem-solving skills enable you to implement creative solutions to a wide range of design challenges, making you an essential part of the prototyping team.
You are comfortable with rapid prototyping and understand the importance of delivering quick-turnaround parts to meet project deadlines. Your attention to detail ensures that every prototype meets the required specifications and quality standards. You are adaptable and open to feedback, continuously seeking ways to improve your skills and contribute to the team's success. What you'll do
As a Hardware Prototype Technician at SPAN, you will play a crucial role in the prototyping process, collaborating with various teams to design and build prototypes that support engineering and R&D projects. You will operate and program CNC milling centers, routers, and 3D printers, ensuring that prototypes are fabricated accurately and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include reading and interpreting technical drawings, fabricating parts, and modifying off-the-shelf components to meet project requirements. You will also be involved in brainstorming sessions with cross-functional teams, generating ideas and iterating on prototypes to enhance their functionality and design.
You will be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized workspace, ensuring that all tools and equipment are in good working condition. Your role will require you to document the prototyping process, including any modifications made to components and the outcomes of testing. You will collaborate with engineers to test prototypes and gather feedback, using this information to make improvements and adjustments as needed. Your contributions will directly impact the development of innovative products that electrify the built environment and contribute to decarbonization efforts.
