Who you are

5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, particularly in backend development — you've designed and developed distributed systems that are efficient and scalable, ensuring high performance and reliability. You have a strong command of Java or Kotlin, and you're comfortable writing high-quality, well-documented code that adheres to best practices.

You possess experience with technologies such as Redis, Kafka, and RabbitMQ, which are essential for building robust applications. Your understanding of both relational and non-relational databases allows you to make informed decisions about data storage and retrieval. You are proactive in enhancing the technical skills of your team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high coding standards.

Your communication skills are clear and effective, enabling you to collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams. You are fluent in English at an advanced level (C1), which helps you articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. You are also open to learning new programming languages as needed, demonstrating your adaptability in a fast-evolving tech landscape.

What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Swile, you will play a crucial role in optimizing our applications and ensuring they meet the needs of over 5.5 million users. You will write efficient, tested, and maintainable code while focusing on enhancing the observability and monitoring of our applications. Your expertise will guide the team in implementing best practices in software development, ensuring that our applications are not only functional but also secure and performant.

You will collaborate closely with product managers and designers to translate product visions into software solutions that solve complex problems. Your role will involve designing and developing REST APIs, dashboards, and internal services that provide our clients and users with flexible access to their benefits. You will also take the lead in code reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and sharing your knowledge to uplift the entire team.
