Who you are

You have 4+ years of professional software development experience, ideally in backend engineering, and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. You possess proven experience with Python and FastAPI for backend development, and you are also familiar with Java and Spring. Your expertise extends to database systems and data modeling, including SQL and MongoDB, allowing you to design efficient data architectures. You have a strong understanding of software development principles, including object-oriented programming, design patterns, and clean code practices, which you apply in your daily work. You are proficient in version control systems like Git and have experience with CI/CD pipelines, ensuring smooth deployment processes. Your analytical and logical thinking skills enable you to proactively identify and resolve issues, making you a reliable team member. You are comfortable working in an Agile/Scrum environment, participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Desirable

Bonus points if you have experience with frontend development, deploying applications using containerization tools like Docker, or managing applications in a Kubernetes environment. Knowledge of performance optimization techniques for both frontend and backend systems is also a plus.

What you'll do

As an Experienced Backend Engineer on the Demand team, you will play a vital role in developing and maintaining one of the largest real-time big data operations globally. Your primary responsibility will be to design and implement backend services that handle over 40TB of new data daily. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists and frontend developers, to ensure seamless integration of backend services with user-facing applications. You will also be involved in code reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to the overall improvement of the development process. Your role will require you to stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices in backend development, ensuring that the systems you build are scalable, reliable, and efficient. You will participate in Agile ceremonies, helping to drive the team's success through effective communication and collaboration.
