Who you are
You have a proven track record of excellence at the Senior Staff Engineer level or higher within a leading technology company, showcasing your ability to drive impactful data initiatives. With a degree in Computer Science and at least 12+ years of industry experience, you bring a wealth of knowledge to the table, particularly in the data domain with over 5 years of focused experience. Your expertise in big data technologies such as Spark, Hive, Flink, and Kafka sets you apart, allowing you to tackle complex data challenges effectively.
You possess in-depth, hands-on experience in data modeling and query optimizations, and you are proficient in programming languages including Java, Scala, and Python. Your exceptional communication skills enable you to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, fostering collaboration across teams. You are a collaborative role model and an accessible leader, always ready to offer valuable insights and perspectives to your colleagues.
What you'll do
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for driving larger data initiatives for the Mobility group at Uber, identifying opportunities to build solutions that enhance data quality. You will collaborate with Data Science teams to identify unified data models, ensuring that data excellence initiatives are implemented for the Tier-1 and Tier-2 datasets. Your work will involve solving challenging data problems using cutting-edge design and algorithms, contributing to the overall reliability of the data infrastructure.
Coaching and mentoring senior engineers will be a key aspect of your role, as you guide them in their professional development and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team. You will shape the roadmap for the data team, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals and driving initiatives that enhance data quality and reliability. Your leadership will be crucial in establishing a Source of Truth (SOT) for critical areas such as Rider, Earner, and Uber for Business, ultimately impacting the success of the Mobility group.
