Who you are

You have extensive experience in engineering, particularly in building and scaling AI-driven systems — your background includes working with voice agents and understanding agentic architectures. You are familiar with the latest advancements in Generative AI and have a strong grasp of how to implement these technologies in customer service applications. Your technical expertise is complemented by a bias for action, allowing you to creatively leverage GenAI tools to accelerate execution and experimentation.

You possess a deep understanding of the end-to-end architecture of autonomous agents — this includes agentic planning, execution loops, and knowledge routing. You are adept at ensuring compliance and maintaining brand voice in automated conversations, which is crucial for delivering a seamless customer experience. Your experience with real-time voice interactions and safety guardrails positions you as a leader in this innovative space.

What you'll do

In this role, you will own the architecture of the end-to-end agent system, focusing on agentic planning and execution loops, long-term memory, and policy enforcement. You will be responsible for shipping production systems that handle millions of conversations, ensuring they meet rigorous service level objectives (SLOs) and include graceful degradation strategies for human handoff. Your leadership will drive the development of Uber's voice support agent, covering aspects such as real-time speech recognition, text-to-speech, and reliable telephony integration.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to push the boundaries of what is possible with GenAI in customer service. This includes orchestrating large language models (LLMs) and implementing multilingual support to cater to a global audience. Your role will also involve evaluating system performance and implementing safety guardrails to protect user data and ensure compliance with privacy standards.
