You have extensive experience in machine learning and platform engineering, with a strong understanding of the entire modeling lifecycle — from data preparation to training and deployment. Your expertise in Python and machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow and Keras allows you to design and implement robust systems that improve predictive accuracy. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with Research Scientists, Data Scientists, and ML Platform Engineers to drive innovation and efficiency in model development.

You are familiar with cloud platforms such as AWS, which enables you to deploy machine learning models at scale. Your analytical skills are complemented by a solid understanding of SQL, allowing you to manipulate and analyze large datasets effectively. You are passionate about leveraging technology to create inclusive and fair lending solutions, aligning with Upstart's mission to expand access to affordable credit.

What you'll do

As a Principal Machine Learning Engineer at Upstart, you will lead the design and development of machine learning tools that enhance the efficiency and accuracy of our lending platform. You will also engage with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into technical requirements, ensuring that our machine learning solutions align with business objectives.
