Overview

Vizcom is hiring a Senior Software Engineer – Graphics to own the rendering and interactivity layer of their creative canvas. You'll work with TypeScript, WebGL, and AI-assisted graphics in San Francisco. This position requires experience in graphics programming and real-time systems.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on graphics and rendering technologies — you've worked on projects that involve real-time systems and understand the intricacies of GPU performance and optimization. Your expertise in TypeScript and graphics programming languages like WebGL and WebGPU allows you to create visually stunning and performant applications. You think like an artist, caring deeply about how pixels move and light behaves, and you have a passion for pushing the limits of what's possible in web-based graphics.

You are comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams, including design and AI, to create innovative solutions that enhance user creativity. Your experience includes building tools that improve rendering performance and interactivity, and you have a strong understanding of architectural design principles in graphics systems. You thrive in environments where you can take ownership of complex problems and deliver impactful solutions.

Desirable

Experience with AI-assisted graphics and familiarity with debugging tools for GPU performance would be a plus. A background in real-time collaboration systems or enterprise-level applications can help you excel in this role.

What you'll do

In this role, you will own the rendering engine that powers Vizcom's creative canvas. Your first 90 days will involve delivering a core rendering improvement, such as a new brush pipeline or shader cache, that enhances frame stability or interactivity. You will create a graphics profiling toolkit to visualize GPU performance in production and ship experimental graphics features to beta users. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing new rendering techniques, collaborating with design teams to ensure a seamless user experience, and documenting architectural decisions to clarify design choices and performance budgets.

You will work closely with other engineers to integrate new features into the existing system, ensuring that they meet performance and quality standards. Your role will also involve mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the overall growth of the engineering team. You will participate in architectural discussions and help shape the future direction of the graphics systems at Vizcom.

What we offer

Vizcom offers a competitive salary range of $195,000 - $225,000 annually, along with equity options. You will be part of a well-funded company that is rapidly growing and reshaping the design landscape. Our culture encourages creativity and innovation, and we provide an environment where your work will be used daily by world-class designers. We believe in ownership and accountability, allowing you to take charge of your projects and make a significant impact on our products and users.
