Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, particularly in developing complex systems that blend software and AI. Your background includes a strong proficiency in Python and C++, and you have a solid understanding of machine learning principles and practices. You are comfortable working at the intersection of software engineering and AI, and you have experience in architecting systems that require high reliability and performance.
You possess excellent problem-solving skills and can bridge the gap between technical metrics and high-level product strategy. Your ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively makes you a valuable team member. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy mentoring junior engineers, helping them grow their skills and understanding of the technology.
Desirable
Experience with simulation technologies or autonomous systems is a plus. Familiarity with generative AI and its applications in creating realistic simulations would be beneficial. What you'll do
As a Staff Software Engineer at Waymo, you will lead the architectural design of the Eval Rubric, ensuring that our simulated worlds provide a trustworthy representation of reality. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to define and implement metrics that evaluate the fidelity of our simulations. Your role will involve hands-on coding, as well as strategic planning to align technical efforts with product goals.
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the software infrastructure that supports our simulation efforts. This includes optimizing performance, ensuring reliability, and integrating new technologies as they become available. You will also play a key role in mentoring and guiding junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation within the team.
