Overview
Whatnot is seeking a Director of European and UK Public Policy to lead public policy initiatives across the EU and UK. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape the regulatory environment for live shopping. This role requires extensive experience in public policy strategy.

Who you are
You are an experienced public policy strategist with a strong background in government engagement and advocacy. You have a proven track record of developing and executing public policy strategies that align with business objectives. Your ability to analyze legislation and assess its impact on the organization is key to your success. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams including Legal, Communications, and Product to navigate complex regulatory landscapes.
You possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to effectively introduce Whatnot and live shopping to policymakers and external partners. Your strategic mindset allows you to anticipate regulatory challenges and proactively address them. You are passionate about the intersection of commerce and community, and you understand the importance of building relationships with stakeholders to influence policy outcomes.
What you'll do
In this role, you will lead Whatnot's public policy efforts across the EU and UK, creating and executing strategies that promote the company's interests in the regulatory arena. You will engage with policymakers to advocate for favorable regulations that support the growth of live shopping. Your responsibilities will include analyzing proposed legislation, assessing its implications for Whatnot, and developing strategies to mitigate risks.
You will collaborate with various teams within the organization to ensure alignment on public policy initiatives. This includes working with Legal to understand compliance requirements, partnering with Communications to craft messaging, and engaging with Product teams to assess the impact of regulations on product offerings. Your role will be pivotal in shaping the regulatory environment in which Whatnot operates, ensuring that the company remains a leader in the live shopping space.
