Who you are

You are a current student or a recent graduate, eager to gain hands-on experience in the field of conservation and documentation. You have prior experience working in an archive, library, or museum, which has equipped you with a solid understanding of the importance of preserving cultural artifacts. Your excellent attention to detail ensures that you can manage documentation accurately and efficiently. You possess strong organizational skills, allowing you to meet weekly input deadlines with ease. Familiarity with database management systems is essential, as you will be working with various tools to maintain records. You are capable of working independently in a focused and self-motivated manner, demonstrating your commitment to the role.

What you'll do

As a Conservation Documentation Intern at SFMOMA, you will support the Elise S. Haas Conservation Department in its mission to preserve and document modern and contemporary artworks. You will assist in the exploration and documentation of artists' practices, contributing to the museum's efforts to maintain its collection. Your role will involve working collaboratively with the conservation team, where you will learn about various conservation disciplines and the processes involved in preserving artworks. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records and documentation, ensuring that all information is up-to-date and accessible. This internship will provide you with valuable insights into the field of conservation and the operations of a leading art institution.
