DoorDash is seeking a UAS Flight Test Operator to support flight validation of new drone platforms. You'll collaborate with engineering teams to execute test flights safely and efficiently. This role requires hands-on experience in drone operations and is based in Bay Point, CA.
You are someone who enjoys hands-on work and has a keen interest in autonomous aviation technologies. You thrive in field environments and are comfortable with extended periods of standing and outdoor exposure to varying weather conditions. You are flexible and responsive to shifting schedules, including early mornings and late afternoons, and are open to about 20% travel. You have a collaborative spirit and are eager to work closely with cross-functional teams to surface observations and flag anomalies during testing.
Experience with drone operations or flight testing is a plus, as is familiarity with autonomous systems. You are detail-oriented and have a strong commitment to safety and efficiency in executing test flights. A background in engineering or a related field would be beneficial, but a passion for the technology and a willingness to learn are equally important.
In this role, you will be part of a hands-on field testing team at DoorDash Labs, where you will support the flight validation of new drone platforms. You will execute structured drone test flights in both manual and autonomous modes, adjusting flight parameters in real time based on evolving test plans and feedback. Your responsibilities will include performing pre- and post-flight checks, managing batteries, preparing equipment, and assisting with on-site logistics. You will collaborate with engineering and flight leads to ensure that test flights are conducted safely and efficiently, helping to shape the future of autonomous aerial systems.
This is an onsite role based in Bay Point, CA, and only candidates who are local or within commuting distance will be considered. You will have the opportunity to work with a team that is at the forefront of robotics and automation in last-mile logistics. DoorDash Labs is committed to exploring innovative solutions that transform the way services are delivered to millions of people. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
