Overview

SpaceX is seeking a CMM Programmer (Valves) to perform precision inspections on mechanical parts and components. You'll utilize skills in CMM programming and GD&T to ensure quality and compliance. This role is based in Hawthorne, CA.

Job Description

Who you are

You have experience in precision inspection, particularly with CMM or surface plate verification on mechanical parts and components. You understand GD&T requirements as applied to engineering drawings and can spot interpretation issues related to dimensions. Your ability to select and utilize standard gauges ensures quality in your inspections. You are familiar with inspecting feature tolerances and selecting the appropriate tools for accuracy. You thrive in a cross-functional environment and have experience with PC-DMIS programming skills as applied to Articulating Romer ARM and DCC CMMs. You are organized and capable of creating, maintaining, verifying, and sorting programs to ensure they are readily available and saved to the current revision.

Desirable

You have a keen eye for detail and are proactive in identifying engineering and design GD&T issues that may create ambiguity in manufacturing processes. Your collaborative spirit allows you to work effectively with cross-functional teams to continuously improve inspection processes and specifications.

What you'll do

In this role, you will perform precision inspections on various mechanical parts, components, assemblies, and materials, including first article parts and in-process inspections. You will be responsible for ensuring that all inspected items conform to specifications and drawings. You will work closely with Quality Assurance supervision to create and maintain inspection plans and documentation. Your role will involve identifying and addressing GD&T issues in engineering designs, ensuring that all parts meet the required standards. You will also assist engineering teams in developing part inspection plans that enhance the overall quality assurance process. Continuous improvement will be a key focus, as you will collaborate with teams to refine inspection processes and specifications.
