Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience working in a team to develop, deliver, and maintain complex software solutions — you've tackled challenges in designing and implementing microservices and APIs that enhance user experiences. Your expertise includes working with TypeScript and JavaScript, particularly in modern Node.js frameworks like NestJS, which you've used to build scalable applications. You are familiar with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL, and understand how to optimize them for performance and reliability.

You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with engineering and product teams to create impactful software components. Your problem-solving skills enable you to design solutions for technical challenges of moderate complexity, and you are comfortable supporting services in production, including participating in on-call rotations. You are committed to quality, writing automated tests to ensure code behavior and prevent regressions.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer on the DevX team at Kong, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the microservices and APIs that power the Konnect Dev Portal. This includes developing features such as Developer Portal configuration, API catalogs, and documentation solutions using Markdown and OAS. You will also handle API authentication configurations, metering, and subscription services, ensuring that these components are robust and user-friendly.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering and product management, to align on project goals and deliverables. Your role will involve designing and implementing solutions to technical problems, participating in code reviews, and mentoring junior engineers to foster their growth. You will also be expected to write comprehensive documentation for the services you develop, ensuring that they are maintainable and understandable for future developers.

In addition to your development responsibilities, you will support the services you build in production, participating in an on-call rotation to address any issues that arise. Your contributions will directly impact the business of both Kong and its customers, making your role crucial to the success of the Konnect platform.
