Assembly Machinist, Deburr (Starship) - 2nd Shift

Who you are

You have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate and at least 1 year of professional work experience in a factory or production environment. You may also have completed a machining certification, which gives you a solid foundation in the field. Your experience includes working with various deburring techniques, both manual and automated, and you are familiar with basic blueprint reading and CNC machining. You have a keen eye for detail and are comfortable using various measuring instruments to ensure precision in your work.

Desirable

Ideally, you have 2+ years of deburring experience and have worked in a machine shop environment. Your knowledge of CNC machining and experience with different deburring techniques will set you apart. You are proactive in suggesting process improvements and have a strong commitment to maintaining a clean and efficient work environment.

What you'll do

As an Assembly Machinist, you will interpret drawings according to the ASME Y14.5-2009 standard to maintain part specifications. Your primary responsibility will be to deburr and process machined valve components after machining, ensuring they meet the required specifications. You will also chase machine cut threads to size when necessary and polish tight tolerance surface finishes, inspecting them with a profilometer to ensure quality. Additionally, you will wash parts that have gone through the deburr process and passivate them using the citric passivation process when required.

You will assist with material inventory and prepare materials for machining processes, operating a mass finishing barrel tumbler according to specific recipes for different parts and materials. Meeting productivity and production goals will be essential, and you will need to keep products moving while alerting management if production is inhibited. Your role will also involve providing continuous ideas for process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the production line.
