Who you are
You have a strong background in software engineering and infrastructure management, with at least 5 years of experience leading technical teams. Your expertise in networking architecture and cloud technologies enables you to drive the evolution of resilient systems that meet growing business needs. You are skilled in defining strategic roadmaps and translating technical goals into business impact, ensuring alignment across various teams.
You possess excellent collaboration skills, allowing you to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including infrastructure and security. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders is a key strength, helping to foster understanding and support for engineering initiatives. You are committed to improving key metrics related to availability, performance, and resiliency, and you take ownership of the outcomes of your team's work.
Desirable
Experience with CDN technologies and edge routing is a plus, as is familiarity with cloud service providers like AWS. You are proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement and are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where you can make a significant impact.
What you'll do
As the Engineering Manager for the Edge Traffic Team, you will lead a group of highly technical engineers focused on building and maintaining Affirm's edge infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include defining and delivering a vision and strategy for the team's projects, ensuring that the networking architecture evolves to meet the demands of both external partners and internal teams. You will oversee the development of simple interfaces for online infrastructure components, enhancing the overall user experience for Affirm's services.
You will collaborate closely with other engineering teams to ensure that the infrastructure is reliable, secure, and scalable. This involves regular communication with stakeholders to align on priorities and project timelines. You will also be responsible for improving key performance metrics, ensuring that the systems you oversee are resilient and capable of handling increased traffic as Affirm grows.
