5+ years of backend engineering experience building scalable systems — you've designed and implemented complex architectures that handle significant data flows and ensure high availability. Your expertise in Java and Python allows you to create robust applications that meet business needs while maintaining performance and reliability.
You have a strong understanding of REST APIs and how to integrate various data sources — your experience includes working with financial systems and ensuring data integrity across platforms. You thrive in collaborative environments, effectively communicating with cross-functional teams to drive project success.
Your creative mindset enables you to approach challenges with innovative solutions — you enjoy problem-solving and are always looking for ways to improve existing systems. You understand the importance of building extensible and maintainable code, and you take pride in delivering high-quality software.
What you'll do
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Affirm, you'll drive the planning and prioritization of projects that align with product and business goals. You'll collaborate closely with teams across engineering, data science, and product to leverage existing systems and build new solutions that enhance our money movement capabilities.
You'll be responsible for designing and implementing backend services that support the Affirm Card product — your work will directly impact our ability to reach new customers and improve their financial lives. You'll ensure that our systems are scalable and can handle the explosive growth we are experiencing.
In this role, you'll also mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to help them grow in their careers. You'll participate in code reviews and contribute to the overall technical direction of the team, ensuring that we maintain high standards of quality and performance.
