Who you are
You have a strong background in software engineering with a focus on observability systems — you've designed and implemented logging, metrics, and tracing pipelines that handle massive data volumes. Your experience includes evaluating and integrating new technologies to enhance observability, ensuring that engineers have the tools they need to measure performance and monitor reliability.
You are passionate about mentoring and guiding a growing team of infrastructure engineers — you share best practices in distributed tracing, monitoring, and logging, and you uphold coding standards and operational excellence across the organization. Your collaborative spirit allows you to partner effectively with cross-functional teams to drive improvements in observability.
What you'll do
In this role, you will architect and scale core observability systems that empower engineers at Airtable. You will lead the design and evolution of logging, metrics, and tracing pipelines, ensuring they can handle the massive data volumes generated by our applications. You will evaluate and integrate new technologies, such as OpenTelemetry and the ELK stack, to enhance Airtable's observability posture.
You will guide and mentor a growing team of infrastructure engineers, sharing your expertise in distributed tracing, monitoring, and logging. You will define and uphold coding standards and operational excellence across the organization, ensuring that best practices are followed. Your role will involve collaborating with various teams to provide actionable insights into errors and crashes, ultimately fueling a better and more reliable experience for millions of users.
