Who you are

You have a PhD or Master's degree and at least 6 years of applied research experience, with a strong background in machine learning and deep learning. Your expertise includes quantizing, pruning, and distilling Gen AI models to optimize them for edge platforms. You possess a fundamental understanding of Amazon’s Neural Edge Engine and can invent optimization techniques that enhance performance. You are skilled in analyzing deep learning workloads and can provide guidance on mapping them to specialized hardware. Your knowledge extends to first principles of Information Theory, Scientific Computing, and Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics, which you apply to train custom Gen AI models that surpass state-of-the-art benchmarks.

You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with compiler engineers, fellow Applied Scientists, Hardware Architects, and product teams to create the best machine learning-centric solutions for consumer devices. You are also comfortable publishing in open source and representing Amazon at key machine learning conferences such as NeurIPS, ICLR, and MLSys.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing Gen AI models specifically designed for edge platforms. You will work on quantization, pruning, and distillation techniques to enhance model efficiency and performance. Your deep understanding of Amazon’s Neural Edge Engine will allow you to invent new optimization techniques that push the boundaries of what is possible in edge computing. You will analyze deep learning workloads and provide strategic guidance on how to effectively map these workloads to Amazon’s hardware architecture.

Collaboration is key in this position; you will partner with various teams, including compiler engineers and hardware architects, to ensure that the solutions you develop are not only innovative but also practical and effective for consumer products. You will also have opportunities to publish your findings and present at major conferences, contributing to the broader machine learning community.
