Who you are

You have a solid background in database engineering with experience in managing complex distributed database environments. Your expertise in Oracle Database concepts is complemented by strong administration skills, allowing you to troubleshoot and implement scalable solutions effectively. You possess excellent interpersonal communication skills, enabling you to collaborate with multiple customer groups seamlessly.

Your technical proficiency includes excellent UNIX skills and a deep understanding of fundamental computing concepts such as system calls, memory management, and program debugging. You are familiar with system administration of LINUX and have experience configuring storage arrays and networks, including disk configuration and multipath setups. Knowledge of networking components such as Infiniband is highly desirable.

You have a proven track record of analyzing and tuning database performance for high-volume, mission-critical applications. Your experience includes designing and implementing robust high availability solutions, such as EBS Applications, Oracle RAC, and Data Guard, ensuring that systems remain operational and secure.

What you'll do

As a Database Engineer II at Amazon, you will take ownership of Oracle EBS and Oracle RAC clusters, working on a variety of development and maintenance projects in coordination with project and support teams. You will be responsible for engineering solutions that support both OLTP and OLAP systems across multiple platforms, ensuring that the database environments are optimized for performance and reliability.

You will analyze and tune database performance, implementing solutions that are massively scalable and capable of handling complex technical problems under pressure. Your role will involve collaborating with various teams to ensure that database security measures are in place, including access controls and encryption, to protect sensitive data.

You will also be tasked with managing multiple customer groups, ensuring that their database needs are met efficiently. Your ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly will be critical in maintaining the integrity and performance of the database systems.
