Who you are
You hold a PhD in Economics, Quantitative Marketing, Finance, or a closely related field — your academic background equips you with a deep understanding of observational causal inference methods and statistical methodologies. You have a strong foundation in applying econometric theory to real-world business problems, and you thrive in a fast-paced environment where you can leverage your analytical skills to drive impactful decisions.
Your experience includes working with large data sets and developing techniques that apply econometrics to address quantitative challenges. You are comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams, including scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders, to design automated systems that enhance operational efficiency. You possess excellent problem-solving skills and a keen ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
Desirable
Experience with applied macro/time series, applied micro, empirical IO, empirical health, labor, or public economics is a plus. Familiarity with Amazon's business model and its various sectors, such as AWS, Kindle, and Prime, will help you navigate the complexities of the role more effectively.
What you'll do
As an Economist I at Amazon, you will partner closely with senior management and business stakeholders to tackle key business problems across various domains, including inventory planning, pricing strategies, and labor planning.
