Who you are
You hold a PhD in economics and have accumulated over 5 years of relevant research experience, demonstrating a strong foundation in both applied macro and microeconomics. Your advanced expertise in observational causal inference methods sets you apart, allowing you to tackle complex economic questions with precision. You possess a robust background in statistics, which is essential for analyzing large data sets and developing econometric models that inform business decisions. Your ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including senior management and engineers, showcases your strong communication skills and your capacity to translate complex economic concepts into actionable insights.
What you'll do
As a Senior Economist at Amazon, you will partner closely with senior management and business stakeholders to address critical business challenges across various domains, including Amazon Web Services, Kindle, and Prime. You will be responsible for building econometric models that leverage Amazon's world-class data systems, applying your knowledge of empirical IO, labor economics, and public economics to derive meaningful conclusions. Your role will involve developing techniques that apply econometrics to large data sets, addressing quantitative problems, and contributing to the design of automated systems that enhance operational efficiency. You will work in a fast-paced environment, either embedded within a business unit or as part of a central science and economics organization, ensuring that your insights drive strategic decision-making.
