Who you are
You are an experienced Health and Safety (H&S) Specialist, H&S Engineer, or H&S Manager with a strong background in construction safety. You have a passion for ensuring safe working environments and are skilled in collaborating with diverse teams to achieve health and safety goals. Your experience includes working closely with contractors and suppliers to clarify business expectations and improve safety practices. You thrive in field-based roles and are comfortable reporting to work at various construction projects around Austin, Texas, five days a week.
You possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to effectively engage with both internal teams and external partners. Your ability to influence program development and strategy is complemented by your hands-on approach to deploying health and safety programs. You are committed to fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the construction environment.
What you'll do
In this role, you will support AWS Data Center Planning and Delivery (DCPD) programs by partnering with teams such as Real Estate, Due Diligence, Permitting, Energy, Water, Pre-Construction, Construction, Commissioning, Security, and Procurement. Your primary responsibility will be to influence and implement health and safety programs that align with AWS's goals. You will engage with General Contractors and AWS Suppliers to ensure compliance with health and safety standards, while also seeking opportunities for improvement in contracted services.
You will be responsible for conducting site inspections, identifying potential hazards, and recommending corrective actions to mitigate risks. Your role will involve training and educating team members on health and safety protocols, ensuring that all personnel are aware of best practices. You will also monitor compliance with safety regulations and report on safety performance metrics to drive accountability and enhance safety culture.
