Overview
Amazon is hiring a Principal Technical Program Manager for Last Mile Delivery Automation to lead the development of autonomous delivery systems. You'll manage program strategy and execution, collaborating with various stakeholders. This role requires expertise in AWS and program management.
Job Description
Who you are
You have extensive experience in technical program management, particularly in the field of autonomous systems — you've successfully led complex projects from inception to delivery, navigating challenges and ensuring alignment among diverse teams. Your background includes a strong understanding of hardware and software integration, as well as regulatory considerations that impact program execution.
You possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to effectively engage with external vendors, OEM partners, and internal engineering teams — you can translate technical requirements into actionable plans and foster collaboration across various stakeholders. Your ability to manage ambiguity and drive clarity in multi-year projects sets you apart as a leader in your field.
You are data-driven and results-oriented, with a proven track record of defining and achieving measurable KPIs — you understand the importance of safety validation and operational efficiency in the deployment of autonomous vehicles. Your strategic mindset allows you to anticipate challenges and proactively address them, ensuring successful program outcomes.
What you'll do
As the Principal Technical Program Manager, you will own the multi-year roadmap for Amazon's Autonomous Vehicle program, defining clear milestones and phase-gates to track progress — you will work closely with simulation teams, data collection efforts, and safety validation processes to ensure that all aspects of the program are aligned with Amazon's delivery goals. Your role will involve translating customer and business requirements into concrete technical deliverables, ensuring that all teams are on the same page.
You will serve as the single-threaded program owner for engagements with external AV vendors and technology partners — your responsibilities will include driving alignment on project scope, timelines, and success metrics, while managing vendor dependencies and ensuring that all parties are working towards common objectives. You will also be accountable for navigating hardware and software constraints that may arise during the program lifecycle.
In addition to program ownership, you will influence decisions that impact Amazon's long-term delivery roadmap — your insights into autonomy technology and operational needs will be crucial in shaping the future of last-mile delivery. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that all aspects of the program are executed safely and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of Amazon's delivery initiatives.
What we offer
Amazon provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, along with options for supplemental life plans and mental health support. You will also have access to a 401(k) matching program, paid time off, and parental leave, ensuring that you have the support you need to thrive both personally and professionally. The salary for this position ranges from $177,000 to $239,400 annually, reflecting the importance of this role within the organization.
