Overview
Amazon is hiring a Senior AI Engineer for their Robotics and Physics Simulation team. You'll develop high-fidelity simulation environments for robotics and collaborate with hardware engineers and research scientists. This position requires expertise in Python, C++, and reinforcement learning.
Job Description
Who you are
You have 5+ years of experience in robotics or simulation, with a strong background in developing physics engines and high-fidelity simulation environments. Your expertise in C++ and Python allows you to optimize complex systems and ensure numerical stability in simulations. You are familiar with reinforcement learning techniques and have experience tuning solvers and optimizing collision dynamics for robotics applications.
You possess a deep understanding of robotics locomotion, navigation, and manipulation, and you have collaborated with hardware engineers to validate robot models. Your experience with system identification (SysID) enables you to minimize the Sim2Real gap effectively. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and are eager to tackle complex challenges in robotics.
What you'll do
In this role, you will act as the primary specialist for physics engine internals and dynamics, developing and maintaining the shared simulation software framework. You will own the physics integration, robot state management, and control layers, ensuring that the simulation environments are optimized for high-throughput reinforcement learning. You will tune physics engine parameters to support complex contact-rich scenarios required for dexterous manipulation and agile locomotion.
You will implement and validate complex robot models, including precise actuator and sensor modeling, and collaborate closely with robot engineers and scientists to perform System Identification (SysID). Your work will directly contribute to the training of robust robot control policies for complex physical interactions, enabling the development of intelligent robotics systems. You will also have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to the future of robotics at Amazon.
What we offer
Amazon offers a competitive salary range of $165,200.00 - $223,600.00 USD annually, along with comprehensive benefits including health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave. You will be part of a dynamic team that is reimagining robotics and advancing the field through innovative solutions. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
