Who you are

You are an experienced tax professional with a strong background in international tax compliance and advisory. You have a deep understanding of direct tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions, particularly in Europe, and have worked with major consulting firms like KPMG, PwC, or Deloitte. Your expertise includes transfer pricing documentation, entity structuring, and operational tax considerations, which are crucial as Anthropic expands its commercial activities in Europe.

You possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Legal, and People teams. You are detail-oriented and have a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating tax risks, ensuring compliance with local regulations while supporting business objectives. Your ability to navigate complex tax issues and provide strategic advice will be key to your success in this role.

What you'll do

As the European Tax Lead, you will take ownership of direct tax compliance for Anthropic's European entities, ensuring timely and accurate filings across jurisdictions such as Ireland, the UK, Germany, France, and Switzerland. You will lead efforts in transfer pricing documentation and intercompany transactions, advising on cost-plus arrangements and IP licensing structures. Your role will involve assessing permanent establishment risks and providing guidance on entity structuring as the company grows its operations in Europe.

You will partner with indirect tax personnel to align on VAT/GST matters and overall tax strategy, ensuring comprehensive compliance across all tax obligations. Collaborating closely with the Head of International Tax Operations and Business Advisory, you will help build the tax infrastructure necessary to support Anthropic's rapid international expansion. Your insights will be instrumental in navigating the complexities of the EU AI Act and its implications for operational structuring from a tax perspective.
