Overview

Apple is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to design and implement robust ETL processes for large datasets. You'll work with Python and various cloud platforms to optimize data pipelines. This position requires 5+ years of experience in data engineering.

Job Description

Who you are

You have over 5 years of experience in data engineering, focusing on ETL/ELT processes — you've designed and implemented data pipelines that handle large datasets efficiently. Your proficiency in Python allows you to create robust solutions that meet the needs of various internal teams. While a strong foundation in data science isn't required, your familiarity with analytics will help you contribute to developing reporting tools and data analysis when opportunities arise.

You are skilled in working with data quality and validation techniques — you understand the importance of ensuring data integrity and accuracy. Your experience with Big Data formats and tooling, such as Parquet and Iceberg, equips you to handle diverse data types effectively. Additionally, you have a solid understanding of media data formats, including photos and videos, as well as metadata formats like CSV and JSON.

Your expertise extends to cloud platforms, where you have worked with at least one major provider such as AWS, Azure, or GCP — you are familiar with relevant services that enhance data processing capabilities. You have also gained experience with data orchestration frameworks like Dagster, which allows you to streamline and automate data workflows.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be a key member of a small but impactful data processing team — your primary responsibility will be to design, build, and implement efficient ETL processes that ensure timely and accurate data delivery. You will collaborate closely with your team, following clear technical instructions to optimize existing data pipelines and implement new ones.

You will play a crucial role in ensuring that data is processed correctly and delivered to multiple internal teams — your work will directly impact the quality and availability of data for decision-making. As you optimize pipelines, you will also be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving any issues that arise, ensuring that data flows smoothly through the system.

Your contributions will help shape the future of data processing at Apple — you will have the opportunity to leave an enduring mark on the world of technology by enhancing the way data is handled and utilized across the organization. You will also have the chance to mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and expertise to help them grow in their careers.

What we offer

Apple offers a dynamic work environment where innovation thrives — you will be part of a team that values collaboration and creativity. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we believe diverse teams build better products. You will have access to professional development opportunities and resources to further your skills in data engineering and related fields.

Join us at Apple, where you can make a significant impact on technology and data processing — your work will contribute to the development of cutting-edge solutions that enhance user experiences and drive business success.
