Who you are

You have a strong background in database engineering, with expertise in architecting and optimizing large-scale database systems. Your experience includes working with SQL and vector databases, and you understand the intricacies of enterprise-scale design data. You are comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams, including development and DevOps, to ensure optimal performance and scalability of database systems.

You have hands-on experience with data ingestion pipelines, enabling seamless onboarding of datasets for design teams across various disciplines. Your technical decision-making skills allow you to lead discussions on database architecture and technology selection, ensuring that the RAG platform meets the needs of users effectively.

You are familiar with modern AI/ML infrastructure and can integrate these technologies into database solutions. Your ability to monitor database health and performance metrics is crucial for maintaining a multi-tenant system, and you are proactive in developing disaster recovery strategies and operational procedures.

Desirable

Experience with hybrid search strategies and index tuning is a plus, as is familiarity with embedding optimization techniques. You are also encouraged to bring any additional skills in full-stack development, particularly with Python and JavaScript, to enhance the capabilities of the RAG platform.

What you'll do

As a Database Engineer at Apple, you will be responsible for architecting and optimizing the RAG platform's database infrastructure. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of the RAG platform, enabling design teams to leverage large datasets for their projects.

You will monitor database health and performance metrics, developing and maintaining operational procedures that drive continuous improvement. Your role will also involve contributing to full-stack development efforts, allowing you to apply your skills in Python and JavaScript to enhance the overall functionality of the platform.
