Your strong understanding of the challenges in Responsible AI and Safety, combined with your experience in governance and policy, positions you as a leader in this field. You are adept at collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders to assess the societal implications of technology, ensuring that safety best practices are integrated into the development process.

You possess a deep knowledge of AI tools and models, and you are committed to avoiding systemic biases in technology. Your experience allows you to shape policies and evaluation processes that guide the responsible deployment of user-facing features. You are passionate about creating safe and trustworthy experiences for users, and you thrive in environments where you can influence the development of impactful AI products.

Desirable

You have a background in safety research and a keen interest in the ethical implications of AI technologies. Your ability to identify risks and contribute to mitigation strategies is complemented by your experience in leading small teams focused on safety evaluations. What you'll do

As the Applications of ML Engineering Manager at Apple, you will lead a team dedicated to shaping policies and evaluation processes for AI features across various services, including the App Store, Music, and Video. Your role will involve collaborating closely with engineering, research, and product teams to assess and measure the impact of AI features, ensuring that safety best practices are upheld throughout the development lifecycle. You will review AI model performance and provide guidance to ensure that all user-facing features are developed responsibly.

You will be responsible for building guidelines for internal engineering and human evaluation teams, ensuring that all aspects of AI development align with Apple's commitment to safety and trustworthiness. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying potential risks associated with new product features and functions, and you will contribute to the development of strategies to mitigate these risks effectively.

In this role, you will also engage with external organizations to stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in Responsible AI. You will play a key role in fostering a culture of safety within the team, encouraging open discussions about the societal implications of technology and promoting a proactive approach to risk management.
