Overview
Apple is hiring a Senior GPU Architect to design and enhance GPU performance for their products. You'll work with C, C++, and OpenGL to develop performance models and collaborate with cross-functional teams. This role requires significant experience in GPU architecture.
Job Description
Who you are
You are an experienced performance architect with a strong background in GPU hardware and software integration — you understand how to craft elegant solutions to complex challenges and have a big-picture mindset that considers how each element affects the others. With expertise in C and C++, you have a deep understanding of GPU architecture, including hardware-accelerated ray tracing and programmable shader cores. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with engineers across various teams to ensure that all technologies work in unison.
You have a proven track record of developing performance models for multimedia IPs in complex systems-on-chip (SoCs) — your experience spans multiple product lines, including Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, and MacBook. You are skilled in using data-driven approaches for architectural exploration and validation, and you are comfortable presenting your ideas to wider teams. Your analytical skills enable you to identify areas for enhancing performance and power characteristics of GPUs, contributing to the development of prototype software implementations for future hardware.
What you'll do
As a GPU Architect at Apple, you will lead efforts to design and enhance the performance of GPU hardware — your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and verify performance models that drive architectural decisions. You will gather data and measurements to validate concepts, ensuring that the performance of Apple GPUs meets the high standards expected by customers. You will also contribute to the development of software implementations that simulate future hardware, allowing for thorough testing and validation of architectural ideas.
Your responsibilities will include assessing the feasibility of new ideas in collaboration with system architecture, software engineering, and design teams — you will play a key role in ensuring that all components of the GPU work seamlessly together. You will present your findings and proposals to various stakeholders, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration within the team. Your work will directly impact the performance and user experience of Apple's next-generation products.
What we offer
