Apple is hiring a SoC Hard IP Characterization Product Engineer to develop system-level test programs for SoC devices. You'll work with Python and Perl to characterize high-speed IO PHYs and ensure the performance of next-generation processors. This position requires experience in silicon characterization and debugging.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in hardware engineering, particularly in the characterization of system-on-chip (SoC) devices. Your attention to detail allows you to create elegant solutions to complex challenges, ensuring that every aspect of the design is optimized for performance and efficiency. You are familiar with high-speed IO PHYs, PLLs, and custom HardIPs, and you understand the importance of statistical data analysis in the characterization process.

You possess experience in developing test programs for silicon characterization, qualification, and production. Your collaborative spirit enables you to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including design, validation, and manufacturing, to support the productization of cutting-edge technologies. You are adept at performing failure analysis and implementing corrective actions to enhance product reliability.

Desirable

Familiarity with tools such as Python and Perl is a plus, as these skills will aid in your day-to-day tasks. You have a passion for technology and a desire to contribute to the development of high-performance, power-efficient processors that power Apple’s devices.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for characterizing the parametric performance of high-speed IO PHYs, PLLs, and other custom HardIPs. You will define characterization plans and perform statistical data analysis to ensure that all silicon characterization activities meet Apple’s high standards. Your work will involve driving ATE-Bench correlation and conducting data reviews across various teams.

You will collaborate closely with design and DFT teams to evaluate IP testability and drive new silicon debug initiatives. Your analytical skills will be crucial in performing failure analysis to root-cause issues and implement corrective actions. You will also complete yield and correlation analysis for all test insertions, supporting test time reduction related to characterization.
