Who you are

You are an experienced mechanical engineer with a strong background in product design and development, particularly in health sensing technologies. You have a minimum of 3D CAD experience and are proficient in GD&T and tolerance analyses, which are essential for ensuring the precision of mechanical designs. Your familiarity with FEA techniques and software packages allows you to conduct thorough engineering analyses, ensuring that designs meet performance and safety standards. You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to craft clear engineering documentation and collaborate effectively with diverse team members and external vendors.

You have practical experience with optical modules, thermal design, health sensors, packaging techniques, and optoelectronics, which enhances your ability to contribute to multidisciplinary projects. Your educational background includes at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, equipping you with the foundational knowledge necessary for this role. You are passionate about creating products that make a visible difference in people's lives, and you thrive in collaborative environments where you can lead design efforts from concept to validation.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the end-to-end design, development, and validation of health sensing technology integrated into Apple’s portfolio of products. You will work closely with a talented multidisciplinary team to generate and validate design concepts, ensuring that they meet both functional and aesthetic requirements. As the mechanical expert, you will be responsible for engineering analysis and documentation for your portion of the project, which includes creating 2D drawings, standard operating procedures, and engineering change orders (ECOs).

You will engage in specifying, developing, characterizing, and validating the mechanical design of health sensing systems, ensuring that they are manufacturable and meet quality standards. Your role will involve collaborating with external vendors to define and achieve project goals, as well as participating in design reviews and providing feedback to enhance product performance. You will also be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving any mechanical design issues that arise during the development process, ensuring that the final product is reliable and effective.
